Proserpina found a clearing in the woods outside the main camp area. It was getting warmer these days. Storms were coming this weekend. Spring storms. In February! She sighed. She wasn’t ready to leave her husband. She wanted to stay with him a little longer. At least she had a bit of him to remind her. Well, half of his immortal DNA. That she was currently holding in her arms in a little curious bundle. His name was Casilius. He was going on three months old. She wrapped them both in the Mist just in case and took a seat in the clearing where speckled sunshine shone through. Cas was looking around curiously, having never seen green before. Or blue. These were colors that did not come to the Underworld where he had been all his short life so far. His eyes, usually red, were warm brown behind the Mist. His skin, usually midnight black, was soft cream like hers. His wings were vanished, though she could still feel them beneath the blankets.
She carefully sat him on the ground, leaning against her with her legs out. His eyes grew wide as he wiggled his arms free to explore. She held on to him loosely as he started patting the grass, funny little baby noises coming out as he discovered this oddly prickly thing. Tiny fists tried to grab it. Proserpina smiled. She wished Pluto were here to see this, but she’d have to settle with telling him all about it. A terrorist attack in Germany had led to an influx of deaths and he insisted she look after Cas while he handle them. Which could have been because Cas had been extremely fussy and him crying during trials wasn’t a good welcome for the dead. So a brief feeding and then off to the above world where he was now discovering the other half of his heritage.
