Natalia woke with the dying sound of her own voice echoing in the darkness. Fingers grazed her throat, scratching slightly at the harsh throbbing from over use. Breathing came heavy, and fast while panic seemed to coursed through her veins. Against the rib cage her heart pounded furiously, as if trying to escape. A feeling felt all the way to her fingertips as her blood was forced to flow quick and in great volume. The stench of fear hung lightly around her shoulders as training forced her to steady her heart beat. Fight of flight, with it's adrenaline still working in her mind the world seemed slow. Senses in full focus, every rustle of leaves jerked her attention in their direction. The cool breeze flowed smoothly over her skin, nearly freezing her as it brushed against the sweat. Thoughts came fast, questions and answers popping up in quick succession.

It was still familiar ground, the Fields of Mars of Camp Jupiter where within sight. The moon was high but easily disappearing between ever present clouds. Darkness seemed to spread across her in waves ever time the light faded behind a cloud. Precious moments passed as the young daughter of Pluto attempted to regain her composure. Mentally she cursed a number of things. The ADHD that was causing her to have trouble keeping calm. A perfectly natural physiological system that had no reason to be active while she was resting in her cabin. The psychological reaction to that same chemical response. Softly and deeply she inhaled a breath through her nose, held it a moment then released through her mouth. It hurt a bit, but hopefully out here whatever screams she let out while asleep had not woken anyone.

The sun hadn’t touch the Fields of Mars for some hours already, but some of the voices of legionaries still echoed the place. Some people said that it was just the energy of people that remained there, others thought that it was just the sound of some ghosts or Lars coming and going in the Fields of Mars. During the day there were some legionaries training to improve their skills in a fight. One could see several couple of warriors showing their skills to one another, and it was something fun to do, even if one didn’t have a partner to practice with, one could find some dummies there to practice one’s moves.

But at that time of the night, there wasn’t a soul in the fields. Well… not a living one, usually one could see some Lars there or at least one, Some still knew him, past traitor, now Lar. the youngest Legionaries didn’t know him at all, just that he died in battle as a hero… That night he wasn’t there, weird thing, at least was what a daughter of Vulcan thought when she walked into the Fields to a midnight training. She looked around and breathed deeply. She was having extra trainings at night, she needed to be again the warrior she should be being if the stupid government hadn’t taken her couple of years ago.

She grabbed her chakrams and threw them against some dummies that were standing several feet away from her. The chakrams hit the walls and trees then hit the dummies and decapitated them without a problem, then she caught them in air. She smiled and sighed, her back wasn’t bothering her anymore with those simple moves.

Suddenly she heard a scream and adopted a fighting stance. She looked around and walked in the direction from where the scream had come from. “Who is there?” she asked firmly and with her ADHD sharp senses on. She kept walking, steady steps, she couldn't see in the dark as a child of Pluto could, so she heated her chakrams and they got on fire, which didn't hurt her at all, then she could see a bit better in the dark.

Someone was in the fields. Natalia didn’t have to look around to see, she could feel their foot prints on the dirt. Slow careful steps. The daughter of Pluto had to still her hand lest she strike out at whomever was near by. Certainly she wanted a fight, but she did not want to murder someone in cold blood. At least that’s what she attempted to tell herself. “I wasn’t expecting another person out here.” she said, not looking toward the person as a light rose up to Natalia’s left. The light glistened off her eyes like it might a cats, though she did not turn her head to look at the approaching girl Natalia knew exactly where she was. It was as though she could feel the shadows growing around the daughter of Vulcan, the light casting darker shadows than the moonlight ever could.

The world was a sea of noise. Too loud, in one form or other. Being a child of Pluto there was an extra connection she had. A sixth sense in the shadows all around, and another in the earth under her feet. Not to mention the normal senses of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. She was all too acutely aware of each sense, her ADHD driving her mad. A breath taking in through her nose, and let out through her mouth. She continued to try and center herself. It would have been much easier without the flickering light, and the approaching demigod. “Nova. You’re here to practice right?” Natalia turned her eyes to the girl, the light hurt as her pupils shrunk to a more normal size in the fires glow. Still they were too wide, too unfocused to be normal. Her pale skin looked not unlike the Lars in the moonlight, only given warmth in color by Nova’s fire.
