Gender ;; Female
Species ;; Legacy of Apollo and Mercury
Immortal Parent ;; Claimed by Apollo
Years at Camp ;; 5

Appearance ;; Caitlyn stands at a height of around 5’3”. The only muscles she’s ever developed are from legion training. Her fingers have excellent muscle memory (via piano and guitar), and she even has some calluses on them (her fingers) from the latter. Her face is youthful looking and splashed with freckles around her nose. Her eyes are a cloudy, blue-grey, and usually very attentive. On occasion, they’re fiery, matching her long, straight red hair. While training, she usually has it tamed in a braid or long ponytail. Outside of training, she lets it fall into its natural part. Depending on her mood, she’ll even put them in low hanging pigtails. On her arm, she bears the mark SPQR, three bars, and the sign of Apollo. She is not left without scars from the war. While trying to help her brother, she broke her left arm. It took it weeks to heal, and then months to get back into shape. It’s is still slightly weaker than her right, although she’s learned to deal. She’s been brought up ambidextrous since she’s left hand handed, but has to use her right hand for training.
Personality ;; The first impression one would probably get from Kate is shyness. Quiet and reserved, Caitlyn is slow to warm up to people. Quiet and shy, but very polite. She believes that everyone should be treated with respect, and freely gives second chances. This is not to say that she is overall peaceful though. Kate will fight quite willingly. Especially after the second Titan war, she has come to believe that only through hard training and becoming a skilled warrior can she save people. Since the second war, she has become much more serious. She dedicates time for weapon training, hand to hand combat, and using projectile weapons. She has great affinity for the slingshot and crossbow, but can also be handy with a sword if need be. She has allowed other people into her life; however, she is terrified of loosing them, and will therefore do everything in her power to try to make them stay. Anything short of that is a failure to her. In the end, she fears that she will be too weak, and that she'll be a hinderance instead of a help. She believes she'll fail to protect the people she's come to love, and that only pushes her to train harder.
Outside of training, Kate loves reading, drawing, and playing instruments (especially piano and guitar). She's full bent on going into school and becoming either a librarian or a musician like her mother. She also loves making people smile. It may not be the loving smile that her father gave to her mother, or the grin that people gave her brother, but it's something. Mostly, she longs for friends and family. She misses her brother and her mother. She misses having a normal relationship with her father (who became somewhat of a Haymitch a few months after the second war). She knows that they're irreplaceable, but still, she wants relationships with people. She wants to feel that closeness. She did try closing herself off after the second war, but found it to be much harder to cope. Instead, she started leaning on other campers. Even though they have the possibility of leaving her or dying, she still thinks it could be worth it. Besides, she's stronger now. She should be able to protect them. She should be able to make them stay.... right?
Powers ;; Kate has combined, dimmed powers as a legacy. She acquired no power to heal from Apollo, but she does have an affinity with missile weapons, specifically crossbows and slingshots. She’s also a good sketch artist and has a well developed musical ear. However, she has to work harder than normal demigods of Apollo to develop these talents. Kate has even less powers from her Mercury side. She can’t steal for her life (she can be a bit of a klutz), isn’t athletic at all (other than getting in Legion shape), and can't lie for her life. The one thing inherited from her father was a limited teleportation ability. She’s limited to about a mile and no more than twice an hour. Beyond either of those constraints, she gets woozy.
Family ;;
- Mother-Jacquelyn Ashika, Daughter of Apollo (deceased)
- Father-Nicholas Ashika, Son of Mercury
- Twin Brother-Gregory Ashika (deceased, 10)
- Maternal Grandfather-Apollo
- Paternal Grandfather-Mercury
- Uncles :: (Apollo) August Mitchell, Jason Kyoto (Mercury) Joshua Rogers, Zidane Quinn // other demigods of Apollo/Mercury
- Cousins :: (Mercury) Ethan Hunter // other legacies of Apollo/Mercury
History ;; The first time Jacquelyn and Nicholas met were not on good terms. Newly claimed, not in a cohort, and determined to prove himself, Nick made the mistake of stealing (and nearly breaking) Jackie’s oboe. Once she found out who did it, she cursed him to speak in haiku for nearly a week. Even worse, they ended up in the same cohort. After a few months of ignoring him, Jackie ended up forgiving him and came into a slightly grudging, bantering friendship with him. As they grew up, they both dated other people, fell in and out of love, and ended up becoming the best of friends. Whenever their other relationships fell apart, they always found themselves going to each other for support. The Venus kids told them it was meant to be, but they would always look at each other, laugh it off, and say that it'd never go beyond friends. Then, when Jackie was in her ninth year of service and Nick his seventh, they began dating (and trying to ignore all the "I told you so's").
A year later, Jackie's service ended. She started working in the library of the college while taking courses and giving a few piano concerts here and there. Nick visited her often, much to the frustration of his cohort leader. Two years later, Nick joined her in New Rome. They got engaged six months later and married. A year after their marriage, Jackie got pregnant. Nine months later, they were surprised with fraternal twins: a girl and a boy. They named the girl Caitlyn after Jackie's mortal mother, and named the boy Gregory after Nick's mortal half brother. The first few years of the twins' lives were uneventful. Knowing their children were legacies, Jackie and Nick started looking for signs early. While Kate seemed to take more after Apollo, Greg turned out to take after Mercury. They started tailoring to their children's needs. Jackie started introducing Kate to different instruments, while Nick (much to Jackie's exasperated amusement) started Greg on morning runs, sports, and stealing techniques. They grew up in New Rome with loving, supportive parents, got along as siblings, and didn't think anything was going to change: until they both reached age ten.
It was all horrible timing, really. Kate and Greg were brought to the Legion on their tenth birthday, in April. They got trained, hard, mostly because of the impending war and the "all hands on deck" mentality. Both of their parents ended up re-enlisting to help as well. Not that it provided much comfort, but at least Kate had familiar faces around her, even though somewhat changed personality. Legion mentality. The second titan war broke out a few months after. It was their first, real life experience, and all too soon for them. They were kept at the back lines. No one ever thought the enemy would break the lines that far back, but as their luck would have it... Caitlyn doesn't remember much about what happened that day: lots of blood, screaming, and trying to keep her brother in sight, but that's about it. In all honesty, she doesn't want to remember. Her mind's mostly blocked it out.
At one point, she just have got hit in the head, or lost too much blood. She woke up in the infirmary. She'd get sad looks and shifting eyes when she asked where her brother was. Part of her already knew. She already felt half missing. Even after getting frustrated by training, he was always at her elbow with a grin and good humored joke. Not this time though. After getting over the initial shock, she started asking for her parents. Her father was fine, recovering in another part of the infirmary. However, her mother had gone down fighting one of the first waves of monsters.
Since the war, Caitlyn's become a bit withdrawn from people. She's become more focused on fighting so she can save more people. She also tries to bring as much joy to other people as she can as well with her music. After her father woke up, her goal has always been to bring a smile to his face, something he rarely does any more. Upon realizing she could make people smile, she's been trying to do it ever since. Kate never wanted to fight in a war again, but as luck had it, she's gotten to see two wars within three years. For the most recent, Third Titan war, she stayed fighting on Camp's side. Once again, she got put in the infirmary for too much blood loss.
Once again, she's watched her world rebuild, but not without its breaks of excitement. Her best friend, Nova, got captured by the government, and she was picked to help return all the taken. So, it's back to even more rebuilding and living with the memories all over again. Caitlyn has semi regressed into the trauma that she first experienced as a ten year old. She misses her old family, and she does harbor some anger towards the Legion for that, even though she knows it wasn't entirely their fault. It's is not to say that she's turned her back on the gods, but is rather semi indifferent to them. Instead, she focuses on her family and friends at camp. She's fighting for her home and friends. Not the gods. Now, she fights to get stronger, hoping that she'll never have to put her skills to the test again. It's about time they get some peace, but she knows the gods never really leave them alone for too long...
