Ethan was a little sad his favorite coffee place was closed today. They made some wicked pies too. He was going to grab one and find his adorable wife. So much for that plan. He knew Lilith had been having depression issues since her healing. Apparently she was now on the spree of blaming her family for not caring. He had no idea what to do. Last time he saw her, she set off on a mission to chew out every member of her family for not visiting her. He had regretting mentioning August’ inquiries into her during her sickness. He had a feeling the Augur had an especially gruesome meeting with his sister after she heard that, judging from her reaction.
He felt like it was his duty to find her and make sure she was doing better, but there was usually no telling where she was. Maybe he should check on her family too and make sure there were no missing and/or dead cases since her recovery. He laughed to himself. She was wounded, but she wasn’t McCloud. Lilith could yell a storm, but she likely wouldn’t lay a hand on anyone. She was just like that. While she was sick, at least, she was an absolute sweetheart. That was what worried him. Now that she was healed, she could sometimes come across as vindictive. It was a little scary. She had nailed him about only loving her when she was sick, but had to admit there was cause for concern when she got all red in the face thinking about her family. She looked ready to use a crowbar on someone’s skull. That and she really no longer needed him at all and that was saddening. When you grew up not needed (or wanted) by anyone… well, you developed a need to be needed. Now here he was with no purpose anymore. She beat the crap out of the obstacle course better than he ever could. It was embarrassing to his manhood. He was proud of her, but… it still stung.
He walked through the forum, considering what he could possibly do to restore his dignity. Maybe there was a great job he could land. He could be a business owner! That would prove his worth. Put food on the table! The table he built in that cabin! Yeah! Manly!
