Nickname(s) ;; Anya
Age ;; 16
Birthday ;; June 1, 2000
Gender ;; female
Species ;; Legacy
Immortal Parent ;; Mors

Appearance ;;
Anastasia stands a little tall for a girl, coming in at 5’10”, with pale skin and grey eyes. Her chocolate hair is straight as aboard and reaches about two hands below her shoulder line, but you could never really tell because she wears it up in a tight ponytail or bun almost always. She has a severe appearance of a to-be stern calculus teacher. She usually shows no emotion as far as mouth, though if she would smile once in a while, she’d be genuinely pretty. Her thin eyebrows are almost always angled in as though she was judging every person she looks at. Which she kind of is. She favors monotone clothing and never wears jeans (denim is too casual for her). Usually she can be found in black leggings and a dark top, usually black as well. Or exchange the black shirt for a white and you’re good to go. If she wears a real live color (grey and navy not included) then it is cause for worry.
Personality ;;
Anastasia is an interesting character. She has a lot of issues, some hereditary, some she grew to have. She has had a rough life and continues to struggle. Though she has never been diagnosed (read: has never received help) she does have a mid-level case of psychosis as well as desperate need for anger management for her quick temper. So combine the two and you have a dangerous duet. She will flare up in anger and then the voices will come out, telling her what she can do with the anger. She has injured people on a number of occasions at the bidding of the voices in her head. She also has severe anxiety, but has beat herself up so much that she hasn’t had an attack since she was 6. She just gets all worked up and uses it to either get away from or get at someone.
Her deeper understanding of death also makes her a horribly dark person. She has zero sense of humor and many have questioned if she has even ever laughed in her life. To note, she does not know the answer either. She is a hard soul and her family often said that she was actually born without a soul at all. She grew up with the mentality that she wasn’t good enough, wasn’t wanted at all, and in fact, was the worst humanity could offer. So when she, ahem, left her family (see the history) she carried this with her, as she was not brave enough to leave them until she was 8 years old. She was and is in Camp Jupiter with strict supervision for her behavior, but no psychological help, with little hope of a happier future.
Powers ;;
Soul Thief – It takes a lot of concentration, but Anastasia is able to separate a soul from a body by skin-to-skin contact. With her practice over the years, she’s gotten it down to only needing 30 seconds of continuous contact to pull this off. It’s a work in progress.
Summon the Dead – Anastasia is able to draw spirits from the Underworld in ghost form for up to an hour of undivided attention for one spirit. She can divide this time up and summon more, just for shorter amounts of time. She has, in the past, used these spirits to do her bidding, such as tormenting other people.
Shadow Travel – as with pretty much anyone related to and Underworld god(dess), she is able to travel via shadows. Her limit is 100 miles per jump before adverse effects come into play.

David Arroyo - father, son of Mors, deceased
Sarah-Lee Arroyo - step-mother, daughter of Ceres, deceased
Jessica Arroyo - step-sister, claimed by Ceres, deceased

History ;;
It all began with two camp lovers named David and Sarah-Lee. David was a son of Mors, powerful and feared, except by Sarah-Lee, daughter of Ceres. He retired a year before her and got a job and started the home. They married the day after she retired and settled into their new home. Sarah-Lee studied and became a teacher at the academia. David was a bartender. Then Sarah-Lee became pregnant and David took on a second job to support them as she took leave. They had a beautiful little girl named Jessica, after Sarah-Lee’s mother. The girl was lovely and sweet and took after her mother in gentle nature. They were a happy little family.
Until a fight broke out in the bar David worked at and, in an effort to man-handle the two fighters apart, David accidentally took the soul of both people. The incident led to him losing his job. Then his other employer heard and fired him as well, claiming it to be in the best interest of everyone. David struggled to find work to support his wife and now-three year old daughter. He had to do something. He promised Sarah-Lee and little Jessica that he’d be back soon, and set off into the mortal world to where people didn’t know his face to try to build a better reputation to start over, promising he would send for his family when he had a good job.
A year and a half passed with periodic money being mailed to Sarah-Lee, but not word of a solid job. So Sarah-Lee began searching newspapers for anything to help her know the status of her husband. She knew where he was, just not what he was doing. Then she found out. She found a birth announcement in the local news of a little girl named Elizabeth Arroyo. The surname jumped out at her, so she investigated. Elizabeth was, she found, a product of her husband’s affair.
She had a neighbor watch her daughter and set out on a hunt for him. When she found him, she forced him to come back to New Rome, stating that his horrible reputation there was due to him because of what he did. As the mother of the illegitimate child had died in childbirth, David was forced to bring Elizabeth with him. The baby was abused and hated by Sarah-Lee, who also influenced Jessica to do the same. She then bullied her husband into following suit. Elizabeth grew up unhappy, unloved, and shunned by her own family. Then, after eight years of this treatment, the voices began, and they promised relief, so she listened. So in the course of one night, she stole the souls of her step-mother, then her step-sister, then her father, trapping each in three of the ornamental figurines her step-mother collected. She buried these figurines in the woods so as to keep the souls from ever finding peace and the afterlife.
She immediately joined the legion, but as she was suspect for being the only survivor in her family, she was put under watch. The voices in her head got worse and worse, as the anxiety and anger followed. She became difficult to control and downright cruel. No one ever suspected that she might need help. She was ten now. She was a soldier. She was Roman. No mercy. So she became more strictly watched and often punished. She legally changed her name to Anastasia ("she will rise again") when she was twelve.
During not one, but two wars against the Titans, she was deemed a danger to her own people due to her dangerous talk, so she was locked in a cell for the duration of the fighting. She avoided family of any kind, even though she has several kin there in the camp. When the government came into play, she hardly noticed. As people were being tortured just for being demigods, Anastasia treated it as though nothing was happening. She could later be quoted as saying that all those who died in war or were captured most likely deserved their fate.
As the years passed, she got worse. Now, nine years later, she is looking on to her own retirement and what that means for her, with no positive role model as to what she should do.
