CLARISSA JOCELYN GRAY
Name:: Clarissa Gray
Nickname:: Clary
Age:: Sixteen
Gender:: Female
Species:: Demi-God
Olympian Parent:: Apollo
Years at Camp:: Fourteen
Celebrity Claim: Lily Collins
Appearance:: Clarissa, more commonly known as Clary, is a reasonably small framed girl who makes up for it in lean muscle and fast reflexes. She has a fairly pale complexion naturally, but being at The First Legion, she has a tan that stays pretty much year-round. Her hair is extremely dark auburn, though since she's out in the sun so much it typically darkens to a brown/brunette color and since Clary is out in the sun so much, it's hard sometimes to even tell that she's a redhead unless you look at her hair very closely. Her eye color to get quite specific, is brown with flecks of hazel. As far as maintaining her appearance goes, Clary isn't as concerned about it as some girls, namely the Venus barracks. She's fairly bony and flatchested, and barely has curves. She's a little self-conscious about the way she looks, but usually she's only that way when she's around Venus girls who jeer at her for what she looks like.
Personality:: Clarissa is a true daughter of Apollo. She loves the arts, but her specialty is drawing. She has a sketchbook tucked underneath her pillow in her barrack, and when not training in the archery fields or running laps, one can typically find her somewhere in a secluded spot with her sketchpad. It isn't that Clarissa isn't sociable, she's an extremely friendly person, in fact. Well, to an extent, of course. She has the classic stubborn streak of any demi-god, and can easily get into verbal fights over beliefs or anything, really.
Her biggest problem, though, is the fact that Clary's a bit of a coward when it comes to certain things. Fighting monsters and evil demi-gods? Sure, Clarissa can do that fairly well as long as she's equipped with a bow and arrow. No, Clary is more a coward when it comes to really deep matters of the heart. She doesn't like discussing deep subjects with other people most of the time, because it just makes her feel uncomfortable. Her other problem is that she's never been one to handle pressure well. Here at The First Legion, Clary feels like she's constantly pressured, and it drives her insane. But for the most part, she's a fairly fiery, sometimes cheerful individual.
Her biggest fear? Death. It always has been since the death of her baby brother (explained later in history), because of her baby brother, whom she misses every single day of her life. Clary carries around a lot of guilt with her because of that day, and just the topic is very haunting for her. {Sorry if this seems out of place - I just sort of added this in and couldn't think of a place to put it.}
Family::
- Mother - Jocelyn Gray, 40, Alive
- Father - Apollo
- Stepfather - Lucian Gray, 43, Alive
History:: There isn't all that much to Clarissa Gray's life, to be perfectly honest. But there is something that can be said about her parents. Her mother, Jocelyn, was a twenty-four-year old artist just out of an arts school in northern California. Apollo was attracted to her skills, and lo and behold, less than a month later, Jocelyn was pregnant. Apollo left her soon afterward and didn't contact her again until Clarissa was two. Despite everything, Jocelyn deeply loved her baby girl, and decided to name the baby girl after Jocelyn's own mother, so her name became Clarissa Jocelyn Fray when she was born. Not long before her second birthday, Apollo came back to Jocelyn and told her what was to become of the young demi-god Clarissa.
Doing precisely as she was told, even though the idea that her baby girl might get torn apart by wolves was a frightening thought, Jocelyn brought Clary to the Wolf House, where she was tested by Lupa. Lupa deems Clarissa fit enough to train at the First Legion, and ever since Clary has lived there in the Apollo barracks and, for the most part, loves it there. As soon as she was old enough, Clarissa started volunteering in the nursery. She would spend a lot of her time there when she wasn't training, helping raise the littler demi-gods who were not yet old enough to live in their barracks. She was even a teacher for archery for the little ones, and still does it on occasion today. However, there was one traumatic experience that has haunted Clary ever since.
One morning, when it was sunny and bright and there was no reason to feel down, Clarissa had gone down to the nursery after an intense running session to take care of her daily chores there. One of her youngest brothers that she had taken a liking to the moment she saw him, Kenneth, was crying in a crib. But when she picked him up to try and comfort him and convince him to stop crying, Kenneth stopped breathing. There was no rhyme or reason to it, nor were they able to bring the poor son of Apollo back to life. (He was a victim of SIDS, sudden infant death syndrome.) That morning, the day before Clary's eleventh birthday, her baby brother Kenneth died in her arms.
However, of course, there have other been events that transpired that majorly attribute themselves to Clarissa's history. For instance, the battle on Mt. Orthys. It was the most violent encounter that Clary had ever experienced, and she barely got away from it alive when a griffin nearly tore her arm clean off her body. Clarissa still has a scar from that, and rarely shows anyone (mainly because she feels uncomfortable showing enough skin to show that she has a scar, not for the purpose that she's insecure about it). Also, another event is, of course, the Great Prophecy given by the prophet Elijah. Of course, those events have not yet come to pass, but in all honesty the prophecy scares Clary. The fact that everyone has started to train harder, work longer... it frightens Clarissa and makes her feel as though she's under pressure. She can only hope that whatever comes to pass will not be as bad as the encountered on Mt. Orthys.
