Summer of 2012
[/b][/center]Felicity pulled the think blanket over her eyes as the sun crept through the windows of her cabin. As a centurion it was her duty to wake up her co-hort. Today was one day she wished to be a non demi-god and was able to sleep in during the summer. That was one thing positive about being a normal kid. They got to sleep in. Also if she was a normal kid she would be spending the summer probably cruising in a car. She was sixteen now, yet to the Legion that didn't hold any meaning. She threw off the blanket and groaned as she climbed the ladder down from the top bunk. She staggered to the activity list that was posted near the door. Her cohort had a double practice at the obstacle course followed by the lunch. The ended the day with a scrimmage in the Field of Mars. Felicity yawned and stretched as she walked over to her chest and empty out the garments she would need for the day. Camp tee with the issued armor. She placed them upon her and went about waking the cabin. They had only forty five minutes for breakfast. Being late resulted in severe punishments.
"C'mon you lazy rags! The dead move faster then you do! Trust me, I know! Line up, get moving. We got to get to Mess Hall soon unless you want the hot shower privileges revoked. We have a tough day today. Lots of training. Make sure you have on your armor." Felicity yelled at the cohort. She was told she would often make a good drill Sergeant, she didn't see it. After a good twenty minutes of teenagers running around trying to start the day Felicity finally herded them out of the door and straight to the Mess. Todays specialty: Roman slop.
As Felicity got served her slop she avoided passing the Augur and Praetor table. She went to a corner and sat down. No one joined her. She was still a daughter of Pluto. That was all she was going to be remembered for. When people met her they thought of the dark suited father of hers which rules over every dead being. She figured they were in fear that she would sentence them to death. If only they knew. Her loneliness was interrupted when a kid of Mercury dropped a letter in front of her. She picked up the blue envelope and read the scrawl on the front. Her face frowned. It was from her mom.
Felicity thought for a moment. Why on Earth would her mom write her? They barely even sent Birthday letter-oh gods! That was why! Felicity forgot to send her step-siblings a birthday letter. She had never met her siblings, but she received photos. Heck, they didn't even know anything about her. Mom said Felicity was sent to a boarding school somewhere in America that offers summer programs. For young kids it was believable, but in a few years they would recognize something was different, or they might not even care. She ripped open the envelope and read the parchment.

Dearest Felicity,
It is your mother again. I hope all is well. I am glad to hear that you have not yet had another incident. Although, I am disappointed that you regret to write Abigail and Jason a Birthday letter this year. They were greatly upset from the absence of your letter. Please try to do better with remembering your family's birth dates. I hope you are continuing to do better. Glad to hear that all is well.
Love,
Elizabeth Weingarten-Merrimen

Felicity sighed as she stuffed the letter back into the envelope. Yeah, her mother sure cared. That is why she couldn't even sign it mom. No she kept it formal. Besides, the only reason for the letter was to chastise Felicity. She took some deep breaths to calm herself down. She was feeling both sadness and rage. Part of her wanted to run and cry, while the other wanted to go against Mars himself. She concentrated her breathing. She couldn't go getting worked up, it wasn't safe. She stood up and rallied together her cohort and headed to the obstacle course.
After the double session Felicity was drenched in sweat and her voice was horse from yelling at everybody. Her legs were sore and she was desperate to get to the mess and sit for a few minutes before going for the scrimmage at the field of Mars. She herded the cohort to the Mess Hall yet again. However, Felicity wasn't able to relax at the Mess as one of the cohort members passed out and Felicity had to carry the tiny girl to the infirmary. After filling out all the necessary paper work lunch was over and she was due at The Field of Mars. She cursed all the way there.
The scrimmage was against the other cohorts. Of course it was tough for the fourth cohort, Felicitys division. She was always trying to get everyone better but it rarely worked. After their third scrimmage of being beaten Felicity felt ready to fall down, though as a legionnaire of Rome you weren't suppose to show weakness. She glanced at the ground and saw that the letter from her mom had fallen out of her armor. All the depression, hatred, and tired feelings all came again at once. She didn't have time to prepare herself. There was a familiar pull in her gut and the ground erupted. Felicity stared at the fissure in the Earth as thousands of zombies pulled out, even worse, they were Greek.
She screamed for people to go back. Felicity used as much power as she could to get the dead back to the Underworld but there was so many. All around her fellow campers had their gladius out and were attacking. She heard screams of pain. As Felicity ran tears streamed down her face. This was all her fault, this carnage. She heard endless buzzing in her ears noting when ever a comrade had fallen in battle. Felicity stopped in the middle of the Field. Everywhere was battle and blood and screaming. She calmed herself and tried to focus. She felt the tug in her gut and enforced the feeling ten-fold. She yelled for all the dead to return to their graves and rest in the Underworld. Within the next ten minutes all the dead were gone. Felicity, after much power drainage, collapsed in the field.
When she awoke in the infirmary a day later she was tossed in a corner as most of the beds were filled up with wounded. She got up and was met with evil glares from everyone. She nervously rushed outside where she was met with a more gruesome image. At least twenty burial shrouds laid on top of dead bodies. Felicity felt saltwater sting her eyes and she ran to her cabin, determined to never let anything like that happen again.
For the next two weeks no one saw or heard from Felicity. Eventually she was dragged back into duty, although not as harsh as before. To this day Felicity remembers the battle vividly. When it is brought up she becomes enraged that she wished you were part of the dead to have died that day. Every other time Felicity has been working on clearing her name.
