Appearance ;;
Mercury sometimes varies in his appearance. For the most part he is very athletic in his build and has a thin but muscular look to his limbs. He has nowhere near as much muscle as Mars has, but enough to give him an edge. Mercury has a deep tan and a sly look in his eyes, his fingers are quick and he always has to be doing something. He has a mischievous grin and an elfish face. He has a few tattoos but keeps them covered. His hands are a bit calloused, but he keeps them tidy. Mercury tends to wear some nicer clothes, but he’s never seen without his fedora with feathers. For the most part this is the winged helm that he’s oh so famous for. No matter what shoes he wears, you can always see the faint outline of wings and if Mercury so chooses, the wings can pop out and help him with his super speed.
Mercury is a bit eclectic in his dress. Other then the normal shoes and his winged helm in the look of a fedora, Mercury loves to adorn his clothes with scarves, bracelets and bandanas. His hair is darker, long and unkempt; mostly Mercury brushes it back and keeps it either under his hat or bandana. His eyes are dark and have a mischievous yet sultry look to them. They are deep brown, sometimes in the right light they look black, but most have compared his eyes to a deep and dark colored wood of the most exquisite furniture. Many of the women he has romanced like to say he has those ‘bedroom eyes’ that make a woman’s knees buckle. He keeps the mustache and goatee trimmed up nicely and is a bit conscious of his outward physical appearance, but not so much as Venus is.
Personality ;;
Mercury is known as the god of thieves, travelers, merchants, technology, tongues, luck, trickery, eloquence, finance and boundaries. These are some of the aspects of his personality.
Mercury is a thief, first and foremost. He is quick and agile so he is good at observing and getting into trouble. His motto is ‘it’s only illegal if you get caught’ and Mercury almost never gets caught at his craft of thieving and stealing. His fingers are light and probably would leave your pockets even lighter after he passes by you. His thieving nature is revealed in his mischievous grin and the spark in his eyes. If you think Mercury is up to something, you’re probably right. He can’t sit still and always has to be getting into something. Most of his thieving has turned into scouting for the gods. He keeps "most" of his talents in the stealthy arts to aid the gods in their fight against the unknown monsters that always are trying to over throw Olympus. Mercury acts more like an infiltrator or a scout in an army then a free lance thief.
Tongues, mercury can speak any language, dead or still live. This helps him with his nickname of the silver tongued man. Mercury can spin a lie and about 9.5 times out of ten will he be believed by anyone. He can talk a person in circles without a second thought. He’s dishonest to most mortals and some divines, but the demi-gods bring out his rather honest side. Mercury has no problem with lying to people. Mercury’s charm and eloquence helps him get information that he needs from people, especially women. Sometimes he even will go all the way to do what it takes to get any information from people.
Mercury is a fast talker and on occasion has pretended to be an auctioneer for shits and giggles. He loves making deals with people and loves to make money. He’s constantly checking stocks and the stock market to make sure all of his money is doing what it’s supposed to be doing. As a patron of Merchants, technology, and finance, Mercury always has his fingers on the pulse of the economy in all countries. He doesn't much let on that this is one of his particular vices. He always has the best financial advice and he will always tell you that it’s a must to invest in FedEx or UPS. He has good business ethic and the best business sense in the world.
While he can be a bit fun loving, he is more stern towards his children. Other demi-gods he can joke and make fun with and cut up, but when it comes to his own kids, Mercury tries his hardest to be the father figure while they are in new Rome. He's very firm and always tries to make sure they have their well-being is assured. He worries about them and he works hard to be sure that they are successful.
Fairly go with the flow and easy to get along with, Mercury doesn't have many enemies. Except for maybe those that he has stolen from. Mercury is close with many of the chill gods, like Apollo for instance. Mercury can’t really stand Mars, the two are always at odds. Mercury doesn't much like bullies in any sort of form and will always root for them to fall every time. That also includes his dad from time to time. Mercury is fairly involved in the mortal world unlike some of the other gods.
Mercury sometimes detests being the god of messengers. He hates being kept so busy. Mercury sometimes feels like he's been given the short end of the stick. Mercury has another motto, he gets a call and he delivers the message or package. He takes his job seriously and is very diligent in working. Mercury works tirelessly to keep up with the hard demands of being the messenger and gopher of the gods.

History ;;
Shortly after the son of Jupiter and the pleiade Maia was born, Mercury stole the entire herd of Apollo’s sacred cattle and hid it in a cave. After being just moments old, he constructed a Lyre made of a tortoise shell to appease the angry sun god. Apollo liked the Lyre so Mercury was in the clear. But from then on he was marked as a mischief maker and troublesome.
At an early age, Mercury was always trying to prove his quick wit, his speed and his dexterity. At a young age he slayed Argus the hundred eye Cyclops and presented the eye he had speared on his staff to Juno, who in turn placed it on the peacock as her symbol. Of course he had a little help from Juno herself, but it was still quite a feat for a godling that was so young. HE was tasked with the job of escorting souls to the underworld and started to run messages from Pluto to Jupiter.
The middle ages made Mercury want to invest in the Tylenol stock. Between ferrying the massive amount of souls to the underworld because of the plague, (he and Pluto got close during that particular time of the century) to the strain on the economy, Mercury was all over the place. He enjoyed hanging out with people like Robin of Locksley (ask him about that one of these days) to keep the money out of the hands of the evil people. He had a load of fun spying on the French. After he had hand-picked one of his sons to accompany him on a mission for Edward the Black Prince of Wales, one of his sons had gotten caught by the French and ended up dying in the midst of torture. Mercury vowed to never allow another one of his sons to accompany him on missions that he went on.
The renaissance was a time when Mercury truly flourished. His most famous son, Christopher Columbus, found a new world. Mercury spent time with the Medici family in Italy, reveling in their pursuit of knowledge and their financial well-being. He over saw their finances and made much money for the family. In this age, his silver tongue served him well in all walks of the country. He had many fingers in many pies. Mercury was really enjoying himself by traveling the world on the ships with many of the great explorers and having a nice and comfy position as a high profile person in the Medici family. There was much to do in this time period and man people to bother. His personal favorite one was harassing the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. The time he painted over the Sistine Chapel in some funny looking pictures of the gods, the look on their faces was just priceless. Of course Mars had it out for him ever since then. So what if Mercury gave the guy a honkin nose and made him look like a complete ass (animal or otherwise).
The revolutionary war gave Mercury more chances to use his divine talents by spying for the Rebel colonists on the British. Though Mars was more than happy to side with Mercury and come to the aid of the rebels, Mars decided that afterwards he was going to thoroughly trounce him at least every other day during the war. In the end it was worth it, Mercury made out like the proverbial bandit with a rather large and impressive amount of goods to pawn off and Mars felt as if his manhood was restored after his likeness being taken for a dumb beast atop a roof.
The civil war fell and with it came a hard time for all of the gods. Mercury was split and found himself at the crossroads of a decision. Though the Roman’s lost the war, Mercury profited off the sale of war time items, whiskey, arms and more importantly, submarines and blockade running. Blockade running ended up being something extremely fun for Mercury. But the loss of the south still made the Romans feel as if the greeks were rubbing it in their faces.
World War One and Two provided to be profitable for Mercury in many ways. He liked to help run intelligence from behind enemy lines and doing things that he did best. Things like sneaking, observing and of course, Lying. Mercury decided he would try to specially train one of his sons to help him in a mission to gather information on Pluto’s sons in Nazi Germany, but once again his son was captured, tortured and eventually killed before Mercury could rescue him. It tore him apart to lose another child.
For the most part now days, Mercury just hangs out. He delivers things from realm to realm and is pretty content with sneaking around camp and harassing campers, Terminus and generally making a nuisance of himself. [/blockquote]
