"after the quest he would never have to deal with the members in close quarters ever again if he didn't want to. instead of relief though, he felt something that could only be described as almost a mild separation anxiety. he was just too used to seeing their annoying faces and listening to their idiotic carrying ons day in and day out, always them, only them. for six. freaking. months. ..... were they a pain? yes. did he want to decapitate all of them at one point or another? yes. but six months did a lot to relationships when they were around only each other 24/7. all on a quest. all of them against whatever was out there. had he panicked when he thought he had killed them ..... when he realized he couldn't keep tabs on all of them in camp?" the answer is yes.

Well, it finally happened. Ed's found his new family: the questers. Regardless if he shows/voices it or not (which he doesn't), it's true. For him, family means he gives his love, trust, and respect (even if he doesn't show it). Family means making sure they're happy, and protecting them with his life (since he failed the first time around). Family is Forget About Me, I Love You. He doesn't give frivolous love, I can tell you that. For him, love is special: it means doing anything for them, from saving their life, to just doing something that could possibly make them smile. It means that he's broken around 10 of his own rules, but can now put some of the others into practice. Once again, he's remembered what it's like to be loved, and even though he's horrible at showing that he loves back, the feeling is genuinely there. Being with them for six months around the clock, defending each other, and just being on a quest in general (in the same boat sort of thing, even if his views on it differed) brought a new level of trust (or just trust, period) that even he couldn't deny. Sure, he may've still pushed, shouted, punched, rolled his eyes, acted like a jerk, and gave the others a hard time, but that's his skewered way of looking out for them. He tries to deny and fight the fact that he allowed himself to get attached, but deep down, he knows he did. He may say he doesn't care, but everything else says otherwise. They all appeared as dead in his fear. They all appeared happy, as friends, and having lunch with him during the gas. He left for Orthys because of them. Not in the bad way though. He sincerely believed they'd be better off without him. Besides, the last family he dared to love all died because he was around. He left camp with the full intention of becoming an Anonymous spy. All the letters were written with the hope that it could keep them safe and alive during the war.

Can't say that these two started out with the best relationship. Out of everyone, I think Ed gives Josh the hardest time (being a jerk wise). Although, throughout the quest, Edmund came to see Josh as a great, responsible leader. I'd like to think that their relationship did a fair amount of evolving. Regardless on all his "I don't care" mutterings and eye rolls, Ed did genuinely freak out when he thought Josh was going to die after the quest. He still thinks Josh is an idiot [aka Ed feels guilty that Josh got hurt] for making him (Ed) do the locks instead of letting him fight the monsters. The relief in their post-quest thread was genuine. Ed was happy to see Josh out and alive, but not exactly smoking. And then Ed left. If it's not apparent by the IC/Anon Letters, Ed was the one who got Josh out of Orthys the first time. It was kind of a let down for him when he found out that Josh was back and actually let himself get caught the second time. Seeing Josh in a cell was definitely not on Ed's "to see" list, plus he feel like he had failed keeping Josh out of danger. Josh has vocalized (and has proven) over and over that he'd die for Ed/not give up on him (much to Ed's confusion). Some time before the ruins came the point where Ed realized he would do the same.

ED'S LOCK BUDDY ^-^ I'd like to think Ed eventually (and very slowly, if Ethan kept on inventing nicknames/continued using nicknames [except Eddie]) stopped fighting Ethan about nicknames, and would only let Ethan call him those. Maybe with a little eye roll (more out of exasperation than anger), but he would accept them nonetheless. Even though Ed probably gave Ethan the second hardest time, I imagine that Ed semi appreciated Ethan's happier nature. He'd probably roll his eyes and scoff at the jokes and pranks, but would be grateful for the momentary distraction. (Heck, Ed may've even helped with a prank on a good day). Maybe they weren't as close as the others, but Ethan definitely got Ed's respect (a) for putting up with him and (b) the entire lock situation. Ed was also silently proud of him for getting Jason out of Orthys. Also, one of the reasons Ed was disheartened that Josh got caught at Orthys a second time? That made two brothers of Ethan's that got captured, and Ed knows what it's like to lose a sibling (not the same kind of lose, but still).

RIP Felicity

First check out the Fedmund Page. Okay. What haven't I said about them? As unspoken as it is, Felicity is Ed's best friend. She may or may not think it's just one sided, but it hasn't been for a long time. Starting when Ed made MB for her. Yes. That long ago. The quest just strengthened that bond (on Ed's side at least). Besides the church prank and the Starbucks run, I can imagine them disappearing on other side trips, just because. And sure, their entire friendship they've had their ups and downs, rough patches, betrayals, and leavings, but at the end of the day, they're still friends and are connected by all the things they've gone through. At Orthys, Ed was genuinely happy to be able to see Felicity, even though 2/3 times he was pointing a sword at her. The first time she came to get Remus, he had absolutely no intention of hurting her, and every intention of letting her and Remus bail. Same goes for when she came to get Josh. If you watch him and Felicity interact, it's one of the rare interactions where he can be genuinely happy-ish. On a good day, he'll joke around, tease her, maybe even smile a bit. Also another thing: after Ed passed out on the battle field, the part of him that wanted to live took on the form of Felicity. Just saying. Oh yeah, and her death kinda crushed him (it's going to become a post-trial blurb once it actually concludes).

Check out the Lyndmund Page if you want. And... what else do I have to say about these two? Once again, the quest just strengthened what was already there. Ed found a little sister again. I think their SotEotU thread during the quest was important. One of the rare instances that Ed gives voluntary backstory. Meager details, but still. The IM kinda killed him inside, but he thought he was doing the right thing. IDK why he'd think Lyn'd just give up on him like that, but... he did >.> Anyway, hanging out with her on the quest reminded him what it was like to have a little sister with reciprocating love and... yeah, he really misses it. I thought watching the starts was a cute bonding time thing and I could imagine them doing it nightly if they were ever awake at the same time. Post quest/Orthys, he was really grateful (and confused) that she saved his life. And yes, he's keeping the bracelet. The fact that she turned into a hunter kind of surprised him, but he'll deal. Just... I love their brother/sister thing where I think she's the only one he's hugged (twice, if I'm right).

Lyndis ++ Everyone

I love you, I love you!! You guys are the bestest, I really really mean it! I believe in you, for ever evers! Don't think I don't just because I'm not here anymore! I'm thinking of you everyday! I want to give you all soooo many hugs!

Lyndis would really go to the ends of the earth for her quest family. She grew up with a nomadic group that traveled around outside, setting up camp in different places. The quest was home for her, even if they were attacked by monsters on a regular basis. Arguing, laughing, not talking from being upset. All those things where normal with her family, and she loved them. Weird crazy antics and all.

It was a little unsettling when they came back. Felicity lost her memory. Josh was in the infirmary. Edmund was a little distant. Ethan could hardly stay in one place. They didn't sleep all together anymore. They were all in different cohorts. She had to stay in bed instead of talking with Ed when she woke up. All things that weighed on her heart and mind.

Then Josh fell away, to doing dangerous things, and smoking a lot. He was hardly in camp any more. Edmund left. Felicity was removed from the legion. What was becoming of the little family Lyndis had? She had Gunnar, his annoying apples always there every morning of the quest. Charlie. Remus. It wasn't the same. She spent some time with them, a few hours here and there. But nothing like being with family for six months, watching each others back. Trusting they would be there for you. Suddenly.....it was gone.

Only an eleven year old girl, she wanted someone. She wanted to be a family again, she wanted a family like she knew. Not this sporadic time together, on and off again and again. Days without seeing each other. It hurt her more than she could feel happy being with them. She saw them so happy with other people, or terribly sad over other people. It made her a bit jelous. She wanted them to herself, and she felt guilty for it. Though it was the hurt that drove her to going to the hunters. She still smiles at her family, and says she will visit, but it hurts her. It hurts her to see them and know they will be apart, so she will go into the hunters. Originally she planned to never come back. It was a bit impossible to do that after Ed told her he didn't mean anything he said.


Lyndis ++ Edmund

I love you Ed.....please.....this time....be good? Message me if you leave? I...I want to visit you.....

After Ed told her he didn't mean what he said she regretted joining the hunters. With Ed she knew he'd let her stay next to him, in the forge, anywhere. She could sleep and wake up and talk with him about stars again. Except she joined the hunters, it was too late.

ETHAN && EVERYONE
Party with monsters? Okay, if we could keep the monsters at bay, I’d be a little more all for it, but all the same, totally worth it. New friends, new sights, you name it! Good fun! A little of the good old-fashioned wet-your-pants scary at times, yes, but still worth it. These people… I wouldn’t want to go on this quest with anyone else. Ah, the memories. Six months of memories. There was a lot to cram in there!


ETHAN && JOSHUA
First of all, can you really beat having your brother along on the journey? No, probably not. And the pride that came with saying “Hey, my brother is the leader of this quest!” Yeah, that was pretty cool.

Before quest:: These two got along well before the quest started, so going on the quest together was like bonus points or extra credit or something really cool. He didn’t like leaving Jason on his own, but then again, the big guy had plenty of other things to worry about and that sort. Time to spend time with Josh! Score! Epic adventures with his older brother. Count him in! He loved his older brother like, well, like an any little brother he supposed. He looked up to him and tried to follow in his footsteps, be as cool as him. He was taller, braver, a better fighter, a better Roman, a better leader, a better everything. He wanted to be as great as his older brother.

During quest:: He loved his brother. He really did. And he fully accepted his job of being group, well, jester. He wasn’t sure why the gods had picked him, but here he was. And here he would do his best. He always looked to Josh for direction. He was the leader, not only by appointment, but Ethan would have looked up to him for guidance anyway. That’s what it was like having a big brother, right?

After quest:: Wrong. Ethan had never really liked to be the little brother always. Jason was great and they had their moments, but Jason had a world of fans and now a world of inferiors to look after that oftentimes came before him. And now Josh… oh, Josh. Thank the gods he’d recovered at least… But it seemed like no time before he’d gone downhill so fast. He was no longer a person to look up to. It broke Ethan’s heart. His big brother, reduced to this. He could sucker punch that Rhiannon girl for doing this to Josh. But where would that get him? Nowhere. He hardly talked to Josh nowadays. A combination of him being nervous to approach him and Josh seeming not to care about him anymore. It hurt. And Ethan wasn’t good at dealing with hurt, so he stayed out of the way and kept on his mask of the jester.


ETHAN && FELICITY
Before quest:: He didn’t really know Felicity that much. Had never actually talked to her. Sure, he’d heard the rumors about her, and he’d been present last summer at that nightmare. But he knew what it was like to lose control, so he took it with a grain of salt. Now he would be going on a quest with her…

During quest:: That one night, man, he really thought he had it right. He’d been on watch duty when Felicity had woken up in a panic. She had some… weird Pluto-kid sense thing going on. So what was a guy to do but help her out, right? He woke someone else and took Felicity to the nearest town, found them a rainbow, and watched her back from a horrifying monster attack while she called Remus. They’d barely gotten away, and Ethan had had to take an almost unhealthy dose of ambrosia to recover from his injuries. But surely he would be the hero for that? Surely he would have a new friend in Felicity? A new alliance?

After quest:: No such luck. Her memory loss struck him hard. He visited her in the infirmary, though she was always asleep when he came, so he left pieces of candy on her nightstand to help her feel better. Whether or not she actually got those candies – would a nurse actually confiscate candy? – he didn’t know. But that wasn’t what hurt him most. What hurt him most was that, after all they’d been through, she never did remember him that he could tell. Or if she did, she never spoke to him. So much for being a hero. So much for even being friends. And now she was dead… He kicked himself for not having gone to her and initiated the conversation, but it was too late now.


ETHAN && EDMUND
Aka Eddikins McTwisterpants, aka Eddie, aka Lock Buddy, aka Edwina

Before quest:: He's met Edmund, sure, but nothing really that formal. He'd went to the forge before to bother him for the shear mission of bringing a smile to his face. Which really hadn't worked, but it had been kind of fun nonetheless. Learning that he would be going on a quest with Captain Emotionless had been interesting news for sure.

During quest:: To be honest, he didn't spend a lot of one-on-one time with Eddie. Which was sad, as he wouldn't mind getting to know the kid a bit more. He couldn't be all bad right? No, no one was all bad, except maybe Saturn. Except probably Saturn. He built really cool stuff, so that was a plus. Like he'd heard tell about that Metal Bird Ed had made. He'd never seen the thing, but it sounded cool. Not that that came into account on the quest, but you know. And hey, let's not forget the lock picking. That was pretty epic. Eddie has managed to pick that thing like a pro, and they made a great team.

After quest:: Unfortunately, and probably not surprisingly, the team hadn't lasted long. Everything had been going peachy until Ed joined Saturn. He didn't know Ed that well, but still it hit him pretty hard. He still prayed that he would be safe and maybe, just maybe, come home. Eventually he did... with Saturn's whole army. Thankfully he was captured and tried and all that mess. He didn't know the whole of it; he just knew that Ed would be allowed to stay. And he was going to take a lesson from what happened to Felicity and try to start the conversation now.

So, Felicity wasn't the nicest person on this quest by a long shot. She was stressed, tired, and constantly trying to keep up a mind block so Saturn wouldn't try to bother her because she had decided that this was when she was going to betray Saturn. So yeah, she became snappy and rude and acted like she didn't care about anyone on this stupid team and just wanted it to end. Though, people did see some moments of weakness in here where she showed that she was still the old Felicity.

Side Trip

Going on the sidetrip was one of the happiest moments for Felicity on the quest. Just going and scaring a congregation was pretty exciting and of course only Edmund could pull it off with her. Though, like with the others, she did keep up a wall around people and occasionally Ed would notice something was off with a raised eyebrow. But in the dream sequence who was still her best friend, Edmund. They have this hidden language of sassing and teasing each other in a way to just blanket all their other problems and Felicity really needed that. Of course after the quest she didn't remember him, but he was the first person she did remember and she almost couldn't take losing her best friend when he went to Saturn, she felt lost, despite still having people. However, she never saw him as an enemy or was angry at him. He didn't question what she did when she joined Saturn, she wasn't going to question him. Instead, she treated him like she always had except when taking him to the Grand Canyon and they just spent a few minutes forgetting they were demigods. Now, since she's "died" she doesn't know how anyone reacted and just figures Ed didn't care and is trying not to think of the people back at camp much.

Despite never revealing it much, Felicity is close to Ethan. She was his former centurion and always enjoyed the way he could bring a smile to her face whenever she was down. Ethan was one of the few people who saw her at a vulnerable moment and risked his life to help her contact Remus during the quest. She still needs to find a way to pay him back for that. Not to mention when she got amnesia he came to visit her and she was able to tell her how apprehensive she was to some of the people but felt comfortable talking to him, despite not remembering him. Ethan even helped her steal her file to read all about the bad stuff. After everything happened she didn't get to talk to him much during her civilian life as she had gotten busy and he was still doing training. But, Ethan is one of the first people who are getting a huge hug when she returns to camp, if she does. She owes him so much and knows that he doesn't think he matters much to her, but she'll prove him wrong, somehow.

Felicity and Josh:

Somebody That I Use to Know

Josh and Felicity have an interesting past. They had been friends for a few years before setting off on the legion and at one point both had feelings for each other but in the end Felicity ended up hurting him by saying she choose Remus. It took a few months to pull their friendship back together after that. However, they kinda did on the quest where Josh was the first person Felicity revealed that she wasn't going to give the relic to Saturn but instead giving it to the camp. That was when Josh revealed his true side on the war. They both talked about how they were probably going to die and end up in Tartarus and bonded over that fact. It was nice to have someone to talk to about that stuff. After the quest Felicity didn't really get to talk to Josh, he was dealing with his Rhia issues and she had her own stuff. They have kinda grown apart but perhaps if she ever returns they can try to bring their friendship back together again.

Felicity and Lyndis:

Felicity always gave Lyn the cold shoulder. She never truly hated her. Found her naive and annoying at times, yes. But never hate. Felicity saw that everyone pretty much protected the little girl and Felicity knew that if she grew up like that she wouldn't last long in the legion. So Felicity was rough with her, rude. Even when Lyn tried to tell Felicity she was nice and stuff Felicity tried to make Lyn realize that people can change and they wouldn't be afraid to hurt her, hence why Felicity stabbed the girl. She was annoyed when she found out Lyn was on the quest time because she thought she would slow them down. Felicity just wanted Lyn to not have a naive view to the world, no matter the age, because she worried about her. It was a warped way of worrying, but it was still there. During the tunnels Felicity defended Lyn from the fire breathing lizard thing when her rope came on fire and actually took her help after the nightmare portion of the quest. After the quest Felicity tried to reconnect with Lyn and be nicer, even went to bake cookies together. Felicity saw Lyn as a kinda little sister figure, even if she never realized it.
